Introduction

This interdisciplinary minor in Peace Theology and Mennonite Studies offers a unique fusion of past and present. Take the opportunity to study rare primary sources and visit historical sites pertaining to the nearly 500-year-old history of Anabaptism in the Netherlands. Explore contemporary issues in peace and conflict studies with experts who are active as Mennonite representatives in today’s global peacebuilding networks. 

Offered by the specialist teaching team of Amsterdam’s Mennonite Seminary at VU Amsterdam, the courses in this minor explore themes and methodologies from Biblical studies, theology, history, cultural studies, peace and conflict studies, ethics, and philosophy.

Curriculum

The minor Peace Theology and Anabaptist-Mennonite Traditions builds bridges between theory and practice -and between past and present. You will learn the following skills:

  8. Specialist knowledge of Mennonite theology, suitable for those wishing to pursue further theological studies or become qualified to work as a minister within the global Mennonite church

Programming is designed so that all courses fit within one semester, and all courses will be formatted so that they are recognized and accredited internationally. The language of instruction is English.
