Alumni: Geke van Vliet

My name is Geke van Vliet; I am an alumnus of the PTR research master program. I decided to transfer to the 2-year master to get more acquainted with theology. After five years of being a master’s student, I recently started a PhD at the University of Pretoria.

During both my master’s programs, I have focused on eco-theology, churches, and climate justice. I am thus well-prepared for my current PhD position, as my research focuses on young Christians’ ecological commitment – especially their Christian conviction’s influence on climate actions. Although I was not planning to do a PhD, I am thrilled to start this next chapter in my academic career. The combination of my research master’s and divinity master’s is perfect for this position. I furthermore hope this research will help me develop skills I can use in both careers, academically and within the church. I hope to stay connected to the PTR family from South Africa!
