This year, the centre welcomed 5 new interns who are joining the team since the beginning of February till the end of June. The internship includes various tasks. From weekly meetings with the team, till working on publications. The internship also includes various tasks like organizing this year’s series of Public Lectures, participate in research groups and attend Doktorandenkolloquium. An internship at the Amsterdam Centre is a research-oriented internship. Which means it focusses on academic life. Students will learn professional skills and see how academic life looks like after graduating for PTR.
An interesting part of this internship is the obligatory course ‘Restorative Justice and Models of Reconciliation’.
This course provides an insight in the opposite to the Western popular form of ‘Retributive Justice’. Student give presentations and we discuss and analyze the topic of Retributive Justice and its pros and cons. On top of this, students will write an article which will be send to a journal to be published. One of the interns wrote: “Doing an internship at the Amsterdam Centre is really pleasant. The team is small which makes it look like family, and this makes it easy to work together and to discuss
(important) topics. There is room for personal development and we are open towards and respect each other”.
