” We are afraid of religion because it interprets rather than observes. Religion does not confirm that there are hungry people in the world; it interprets the hungry to be our brethren whom we allowed to starve” – Dorothee Sölle

As of a few days, I handed in the final assignment for the master program ‘Peace,Trauma and Religion’ (PTR). That means that I am graduating from PTR next month.

This week, the last week of September, I am finishing my internship with the Dutch Ministry of Interior Affairs and next week,I’m starting my new job with NEWConnective. In my new position, I will be developing events for students of the VU. Not just any events, but activities will focus on the greater questions of life. My search for a job was not as intense as I had imagined. While doing my internship,I gained an understanding of the kind of environment I would flourish in.

In the interview with NEWConnective, one of the first interviews I did in my search for a job, it immediately clicked; this is a place that fits. I think, for me, authenticity is one of the most important values professionally. I want to feel able to bemy authentic self, and to do work that fits my own abilities and personality. My new position facilitates that; I can wonder and search, together with students, what life is and how to speak about it.
